National restructuring: APC “pathological liars”, says ADP

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has taken a swipe at the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the restructuring position recently made public by the El-Rufai Committee, describing it as a political gimmick designed to deceive Nigerians and to shift public attention from condemnations trailing the Buhari administration. In a statement released by the Director Media, Kayode Jacob, yesterday, in Abuja, ADP’s National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Sani, said that APC might be taking Nigerians for granted in much the same way PDP did before it was swept from power in ‘Change’ election of 2015. Student killed in school hostel in Sokoto

One student was confirmed killed on Wednesday when fire gutted a student hostel at Sultan Tambari Secondary School, Illela, Sokoto State, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports. Sources from the school indicated that the deceased, 17-year-old Isma’ila Garba, was among the 200 students in the hostel when the fire started. “The deceased actually escaped unhurt when the fire started, but went back to retrieve some belongings and could not return,” Malam Nura Bello, information officer of the Sokoto education ministry, told NAN. He described the incident as “very shocking”, adding that Garba, who hailed from Ambarura village in Illela Local Government Area, had been buried at Kilgori. Bello said that students who sustained injuries had been taken to the hospital. A NAN correspondent, who visited the school, reports that the entire structure was razed down by the fire which lasted for “several hours”. Buhari’s choice as AU’s anti- corruption czar laughable – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mocked the choice of President Muhammed Buhari as anti-corruption champion by the African Union (AU), describing the choice as laughable, derisory and eminently qualified as Africa’s joke of the year. In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said it was clear that leaders of the AU were not well briefed on happenings in Nigeria. The party said that unknown to the AU leaders, “heavy sleazes” are being perpetrated around the Buhari presidency, adding that the African leaders were misled by the Federal Government with its deceptive name-and-shame stunt in the anti- graft war. The party said it was embarrassing that the Presidency, in its desperation to launder its “irredeemably battered image,” would resort to exporting its deceptive proclivities to the international arena.
